Which Author Would You Love to Have Dinner With? Lessons for Entrepreneurs

Which Author Would You Love to Have Dinner With?

If you could sit down for dinner with any author, living or dead, who would you choose?

For me, the most interesting dinner wouldn’t simply be about books. It would be an opportunity to learn directly from someone whose ideas have influenced how people think about business, success, leadership, money, discipline, and personal growth.

My Choice: Napoleon Hill

If I had to choose one author, I would sit down with Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich.

Hill wrote extensively about ambition, persistence, definite purpose, organized planning, and the mindset behind achievement. Those subjects remain relevant to entrepreneurs today.

But instead of asking him to repeat lessons from his books, I would want to discuss how those principles apply to building a business in today’s world.

I would ask:

– What separates people who have ambition from people who actually execute?
– How should an entrepreneur respond when money is tight?
– When should you stay committed to an idea, and when should you change direction?
– How important is building relationships with successful people?
– What daily habits create the greatest long-term advantage?
– If you were starting from zero today, what would you do first?

Knowledge Can Change Your Direction

The right conversation can be worth more than money.

Money can solve an immediate problem. Knowledge can change how you approach problems for the rest of your life.

That’s one reason books remain so powerful. You may never get to have dinner with the authors who inspire you, but their books give you access to their ideas, experiences, mistakes, and strategies.

Who Would You Choose?

Maybe your choice would be Robert Kiyosaki, Dale Carnegie, Maya Angelou, James Clear, Stephen King, Toni Morrison, or another author entirely.

There is no wrong answer.

The more important question is:

What would you ask them if you had their undivided attention for two hours?

Sometimes the person you choose—and the questions you would ask—can reveal a lot about where you want to go next.
